Einstein once said, “What we do not experience in consciousness, we experience as fate.” This principle states that if we can learn a lesson on the level of awareness alone, then an event does not need to manifest in order to teach it to us.
All learning happens within, and as such, it is not so important how it happens. It can happen either through a direct inner realization or through a complex life story. Most often, we have a choice in the matter.
If one is bright, sensitive and aware, one can simply complete a lesson inside consciousness. If one is dull, insensitive and unaware, one will need to learn through form. Learning requires the density of form when our awareness is lethargic and slow, or when we are resistant to learning; only then, will the confrontational nature of form push one to learn.
For one person, being told the importance of forgiveness is enough to learn it. For another person, seeing forgiveness being shown from one being to another is needed. For yet another, one has to undergo a story of hurt in order to be presented with an opportunity to learn through choosing forgiveness.
The shape our lessons take are not only dependent on our ability to learn inside consciousness, sometimes our methodology of learning is just a preference. One may simply want to live out every learning through physical form. For them, the richness of life happens through a full engagement with it and as such, a rich tapestry of characters and complex dynamic of life stories ensues.
For spiritual seekers whom desire a more rapid evolution, meditation and self-inquiry are embraced as a more direct and effortless way to learn. There is no need as such for lessons to “become fate.” One is content to learn through a lighter vibration; for them imbibing lessons on the level of energy and intelligence is enough.
And it may be that we are fully capable of learning within consciousness, however if we are bound by karmic contracts with others to learn through an event, then fate may not be avoided. We incarnate for a reason and do not come into the world just to ignore it and turn within. Indeed, life in the world is part of our choice to come. As such, sometimes there are simply people we need to meet and experiences we need undergo. Certain lessons are too multi-layered, dynamic and subtle to by-pass a real life meeting. Learning through form can also impact our consciousness with more urgency to change and evolve, hence keeping our spirituality continuously grounded and integrated with life. One can say, consciousness is our cultivation, and life is our test. Returning to Einstein’s principle however, one is generally able to accelerate their evolution and avert unnecessary happenings if they are willing to do the inner work. By first learning inside consciousness, we are able to progress more quickly towards higher types of life experiences instead of just working through the fog of karmas and heavy life lessons. Hence, Einstein’s insight is a compelling reason to do the inner work.
